Mother Nurture offers various aromatherapy workshops as well as baby massage classes.
Sonya is passionate about educating people on what aromatherapy really is, it’s benefits and uses and safety considerations. She has run various workshops in local community centres and clinics. Sonya has also presented at ACM (Australian College of Midwives) conferences on Aromatherapy Applications in Midwifery.
Sonya is available to provide sessions to nurses and midwives or other health professionals on considerations for aromatherapy use in their practice.
Sonya also runs Baby Massage classes. Classes can be run in groups or privately and include short introductory classes or full courses. Classes involve teaching parents the techniques of baby massage and the many benefits this can provide for baby as well as parents.
Sonya offers private and group classes. Baby massage classes can be run in clinic, in your own home or venue of your choice, or online via Zoom.
Both parents are welcome at all classes.

Aromatherapy workshops for everyone
Essential oils can be a valuable addition to your first aid kit to use in everyday life.
This workshop will cover some of the basics of aromatherapy and how a selection of readily available essential oils can easily and safely be used to treat common ailments such as minor wounds, colds and flu, muscular and digestive complaints, as well as emotional issues.

There is often some concern about the use of aromatherapy during pregnancy. The reality is that while some caution is advisable, aromatherapy can be of great benefit in relieving many discomforts of pregnancy. It is also a valuable tool for use during birth and to enhance wellbeing during the postnatal period.
In this workshop we look at safety aspects in relation to pregnancy and lactation, and how essential oils can be used during birth.
This workshop is suitable for women and their partners at any stage of their pregnancy journey.

Aromatherapy workshops for practitioners
This workshop will cover use of aromatherapy during pregnancy and for childbirth. More women are seeking out complementary therapies to treat discomforts and enhance well-being during this special time in their lives. We will look at each stage from the perspective of a midwife as well as an aromatherapist, focusing on safety aspects and practical considerations. Content will be drawn from Sonya’s experience in her practice, clients’ feedback, case studies and review of relevant texts and research.

What comes next? Although childbirth is a huge event in a woman’s life, the postnatal period can present huge challenges for a new mother. This workshop looks at practical ways aromatherapy can be used to assist with birth recovery, breastfeeding issues, emotional challenges and more. We also explore aromatherapy use for babies.

This course covers the full sequence of baby massage, taught in stages so you can practise at home in between classes. It also includes discussion on the many benefits of baby massage, when to massage, contraindications, strokes for relief of colic, constipation and wind, lymphatic exercises and appropriate oils to use.
