Description
Hydrosols, also known as floral waters or hydrolats, are a co-product of steam or water distillation of plants. They are not highly concentrated like essential oils, so a very gentle and safe option to use with babies and children, pregnancy, the elderly and sensitive skin.
Hydrosols may be used in the following ways with babies & children:
- Add 1-2 teaspoons to a bath to help relax, soothe irritated skin or alleviate symptoms of cold and flu.
- Spritz around a room to help reduce odours or provide a calming environment.
- 1-2 sprays over bed sheets or pillows to help calm and settle at night.
- Use instead of water to clean baby’s bottom or minor cuts and grazes.
- Soak a soft cloth in hydrosol, cool in the fridge and apply to wounds, bites or inflamed skin. Alternatively store your hydrosol in the fridge (the best place for it to be) and spray directly onto cloth or cotton wool ball.
